Noise is not the only signal your car sends you if brake repair becomes necessary. Has your brake light suddenly gone on when your parking brake is disengaged. If you have, take your car right away to a brake repair technician to have your brake fluid level checked; an illuminated light typically indicates that the level is low. If you see a light amber colored liquid pooling underneath your car, chances are that that is leaking brake fluid. You wont miss the smell.
